What Is Anti-Ageing Medicine and Who is A5M?

Every day, consumers flock to their doctors’ offices in search of ways to erase life’s little signs of age: an expanding waistline, a receding hairline, a G-rated sex life, forgetting whether the stove was turned off after making a midnight snack, and the list goes on.
The population of our baby boomers (those born after 1939) — are now noticing their signs of aging in their mirrors, on their scales, and in the job market. Anti-aging medicine—the application of any therapy or modality that delivers very early detection, prevention, treatment, or reversal of aging-related dysfunction and disease, thus enhancing the quality, and extending the quantity, of the human life span—is the most important new model for health care for this new millennium.

Dedicated to anti-ageing support for Australasian practitioners

Anti-ageing medicine is concerned with decreasing the risk of all illnesses and conditions associated with premature ageing such as coronary heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, dementia, erectile dysfunction, osteoporosis, and fatigue among others. There has been some confusion about the concept of anti-ageing claims with perceptions ranging from ‘new age quackery’ to ‘alchemistic rejuvenation.’

The AustralAsian Academy of Anti Ageing Medicine (A5M) was established in 2005 by Bill Anton. Having worked and studies with the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and the European Society of Anti-Ageing Medicine, Bill realised a  need to establish a similar scientific and medical body for the Austral-Asian region. An organisation that can educate doctors and health care practitioners on the clinical and scientific aspects of anti-ageing medicine, whilst providing standardisation and accreditation for clinics and health care practitioners who call themselves  anti-ageing experts.

Having been appointed as the scientific adviser and board member for A4M and ESAAM, Bill was asked by the Chairman of A4M, Dr Bob Goldman, to establish A5M and appoint a board and advisors suitable for the organisation, reflecting the same core principles and providing the same standardised education and resources as the USA and Europe.

The AustralAsian Academy of Anti Ageing Medicine (A5M) is dedicated to furthering the science and medicine of anti-ageing. A5M is a member-based organisation that keeps up with advances in biochemistry, pharmacology, biology and physiology as well as new developments in mind/body medicine, sports medicine, molecular genetics and emerging medical technologies as they contribute to anti-ageing medicine.

A5M is part of a global collective endorsed by The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) which has grown from 12 physician members in 1993 to over 18,500 physicians and scientists in over 89 countries.

A5M is the recognised educational service provider for the anti-ageing industry across Australasia. Stay up-to-date with anti-ageing industry news and events on this site when you add to favourites and visit it often.
